Foody’s compassion for her young protagonist is palpable; Barclay’s battle with his own anxiety, his struggle to trust himself, is perfectly on point, and she takes equal care with the moments of sweetness and humor. It is a story of family and friendship, of the complexity of being human, and of the importance of always carrying spare Nutri-Cubes.
