About the Author
Mary West is a California native born in Sacramento. Her journey in media began when she found a love for radio in high school which began a thirty year on-air career, beginning at KUBA Radio in Yuba City, California. In June of 2014, working as a reporter and news anchor at KFBK radio, she was awarded the Edward R. Murrow Regional Award for "Team Coverage of Breaking News." Mary left radio to pursue new adventures and now writes her "Day Hiker" column for the Auburn Journal, which was awarded the Craft Award by the Outdoor Writers of California in 2017.
